What does the FSC label mean?

FSC stands for 'Forest Stewardship Council’®, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forestry. FSC certifies forests all over the world to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards.

Products made with wood and paper from FSC forests are marked with the ‘tick tree’ logo. When you see this logo, you can be confident that buying it won’t mean harming the world’s forests.

The FSC logo on a wood or wood based product is your assurance that it is made with, or contains; wood that comes from FSC® certified forests or from post-consumer waste.

FSC guarantees environmentally appropriate forest management which ensures that the harvest of timber and non-timber products maintains the forest's biodiversity, productivity, and ecological processes.

What is the PEFC?

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification.

PEFC, established in 2000, works throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest and to ensure that timber and non-timber forest products are produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.

Thanks to its eco-label, customers and consumers are able to identify products from sustainably managed forests.

With about 30 endorsed national certification systems and more than 220 million hectares of certified forests, PEFC is the world's largest forest certification system.
