Yard Person – Uckfield

What you will be responsible for:

Receiving stock into the yard and allocating it into the appropriate location in an accurate, timely and safe manner. Deals with customer requirements, ensuring required goods are successfully located and loaded as per the customer’s instructions, as well as the completion of the associated administrative processes.

  • Checks that goods are correctly delivered against purchase orders and delivery/advice notes
  • Puts goods away accurately and safely following company health and safety procedures
  • Unload vans
  • Accurately pick, pack and label goods going out to customers and other branches
  • Load all goods onto vehicle ensuring that the relevant paperwork is completed and included
  • Ensures goods are loaded and organised to maximise efficiency
  • Adhere to the health, safety and environment rules and regulations
  • Able to perform manual handling and become qualified in use of appropriate fork lift. Skilled as a banksman
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping within the section and branch.
  • Maintain a tidy and hazard free working environment.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer relationships
  • Promote a high level of customer service by ensuring correct materials are provided
  • Prepared to help with all additional customer requirements

 

Hours of work:

Branches are open from 7.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and you will be required to work a 9 hour day during these hours (i.e. 45 hours per week) with 1 hour for lunch. Branches are also open on Saturdays from 8am to 12.30pm and you will be expected to work on a rota basis between these hours.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal Yard person will be confident working with and interpreting numerical and written information, be confident in the use of branch based computer packages. They will have specific knowledge of products sold within your sector and qualified in appropriate fork lift use.

Class 2 HGV Driver – East Grinstead

What you will be responsible for:

Ensuring goods are transported to customers in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with company procedures.

  • Ensuring security of goods carried are at the highest level
  • Ensure compliance with all transport procedures throughout the operation
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and in line with legislation
  • To report any accident or damage to any equipment or machinery
  • Maintain excellent service levels at all times
  • Ensure road worthiness of vehicle before leaving the yard by carrying out a safety check, taking appropriate action where necessary
  • During quieter periods, assisting yard staff and serving customers in the yard
  • Keeping vehicle clean and tidy

Branches are open from 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and you will be required to work a 9 hour day during these hours (i.e. 45 hours per week) with 1 hour for lunch. Branches are also open on Saturdays from 8am to 12.30pm and you will be expected to work on a rota basis between these hours.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal Class 2 HGV Driver will have a friendly and outgoing nature and can work independently and within a team. A HGV Licence at Class 2 or above required and previous experience of HGV Driving essential. The successful applicant will have strong logistical and geographical knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills and be self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable.

The successful applicant would ideally have experience with building materials and with remote controlled lorry mounted crane offloading, but full Health and Safety training will be given. A fork lift licence would also be preferable.
